A new model railroad shop you should know about.
The Freight Yard.
By Matt Furze
Matt happened to discover a model railroad shop near 27th Ave. and Bell Rd. recently and went for a visit. The name of the place is: The Freight Yard located at
2734 W. Bell Road, #1306 Phoenix
The Freight Yard sells N scale and HO only, plus Thomas the Tank Engine. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm. Did tell them that they don't show that anywhere on their web site. Web site has been up a while, but they've only been in the store since April. They do mail order also.
Here is a list of some of the services they offer.
Full service dealer for both Digitrax or NCE DCC product including installation.
Custom painting and decaling of engines and passenger cars in both N- and HO- scale.
Decals in both N- and HO-scale are made by our expert art master for freight cars. Our decals are water applied (just like Microscale brand).
They are a manufacturer of specially painted and pad-printed freight cars in both N- and HO-scale.
Overall selection of stuff is somewhat limited though they can order anything of course. Did have a very good selection of Pikestuff buildings, best variety I've seen anywhere on those. Also had Woodland Scenics stuff, including risers for grades, scenery materials, etc. Plenty of track, cork roadbed. Good selection of structures and rolling stock, decent selection of locomotives, etc.
Overall impression, seemed like pretty decent people. Close enough and decent enough I'll go there rather than all the way down to 19th Ave. & Northern.
